“They are the most vile of the lowly,” he said of the looters when the city was in the grip of a disaster. “Those who are out looting while others are losing their lives because of the severe blizzard are extremely deplorable.”
“They don’t steal food or medicine, they just take what they want. So they’re not people in trouble,” he said. “These are people who are taking advantage of the national disaster and the suffering of others to get what they want.”

Buffalo, the second largest city in New York state, is one of the places most severely affected in the snowstorm that is sweeping across the United States. Since the blizzard hit Buffalo, parts of the city have been buried under more than 1.2 meters of snow. New York Governor Kathy Hochul called it a “once in a hundred” weather disaster for people in the western state.
An unusually cold and rainy storm, triggered by a severe snowstorm that formed in a low pressure area above the Great Lakes to the north, has killed at least 49 people across the United States.
